Add a watermark to a PDF

A watermark marks a document as a draft, a copy, or confidential without touching the underlying content. This tool draws your chosen text diagonally across the middle of every page at a size scaled to the page.

The watermark is drawn semi-transparently so the text underneath stays readable. It is added as a real PDF drawing operation, which keeps the original page content selectable.

Frequently asked questions

Can the watermark be removed later?

By someone with a full PDF editor, yes. A watermark communicates status; it is not a security control. For genuine protection you need document encryption.

Can I use an image or logo instead of text?

Not currently. This tool draws text watermarks only.

Does it cover up my content?

It is drawn at low opacity across the middle of the page, so the text underneath stays readable. It is intentionally visible but not obstructive.

Is the watermark added to every page?

Yes, every page in the document gets the same watermark.
