Free online PDF tool
Add text to a PDF
This tool stamps a short line of text near the top of the page — the digital equivalent of a rubber stamp for statuses like "Approved", "Received", or a reference number.
You choose whether it lands on the first page only or on every page. The text is drawn as real PDF text, so it stays crisp at any zoom level.
Open Add TextRuns in your browser — your files are never uploaded.
How to Add Text
- Select the PDF you want to label.
- Type your text and choose whether it applies to the first page or all pages.
- Press "Add text" to download the labelled PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose where the text goes?
Not yet — it is placed near the top-left of the page. For a large diagonal stamp across the middle, use the watermark tool instead.
Can I change the font or colour?
The stamp uses a bold red typeface chosen to stand out against black body text. Custom fonts and colours are not currently exposed.
Will the text be selectable?
Yes. It is added as genuine PDF text, so it can be selected, searched, and copied.
How long can the text be?
Up to 90 characters. Longer labels risk running past the edge of the page.
