Remove blank pages from a PDF

Duplex scanners produce blank pages whenever the back of a sheet is empty, and a long scan can end up half padding. This tool renders every page, measures how much ink is actually on it, and drops the ones that are effectively empty.

Detection is visual rather than structural, so it catches genuinely blank scans as well as pages that only contain faint scanner noise.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as blank?

A page with almost no visible ink across its whole surface. Faint scanner speckle is tolerated, so nearly-empty scans still count as blank.

Could it delete a page I wanted?

A page holding only a very faint mark could be misread as blank. Check the output when a document contains lightly-marked pages.

Why does it take a while?

Each page has to be rendered and inspected. That is slower than tools that only copy pages, but it is what makes automatic detection possible.

What if nothing is removed?

The tool says so and does not download a file, so you are never left with a pointless duplicate.
